What is SD card?
The Secured Digital (SD) memory card is a flash memory storage device. It is jointly developed by Matsushita Electric (Panasonic), ScanDisk and Toshiba.

What are the characteristics of Secured Digital Cards?
The SD card is about the size of a postage stamp and weighs approximately two grams. It is similar in size to the Multimedia Card (MMC) but smaller than CompactFlash and SmartMedia cards.

SD cards uses flash memory to provide non-volatile storage, which means they do not require power to retain the information stored on them.

SD cards provide encryption capabilities for protected content to ensure secure distribution of copyrighted material, such as digital music, video and ebooks.
